About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining Utilidata’s off-device platform that ingests, processes, and serves data from edge AI devices. Your responsibilities will span across managing infrastructure both on-premises and in cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration between edge deployments and cloud-based data processing systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on scalable, resilient, and secure systems that support analytics, operations, and machine learning workloads at scale. The DevOps Engineer will provide technical leadership by architecting infrastructure solutions, setting deployment standards, and mentoring team members. Collaboration with on-device and ML teams will be critical to ensure our platform remains robust, scalable, and well-instrumented. This role is fully remote, based in the United States, and involves working with distributed teams across the country to drive innovation and operational excellence.
Qualifications

  • 8+ years of development experience, including extensive work in platform engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE), or distributed systems with senior or principal-level impact
  • Proven experience designing and operating infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments
  • Strong expertise in container orchestration, particularly Kubernetes
  • Proficiency with AWS cloud services and architecture design
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code automation
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, leadership qualities, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of driving technical outcomes
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the deployment, management, and scaling of containerized applications using Kubernetes to ensure high performance and availability
  • Contribute to strategic planning for infrastructure evolution aligned with Data Center partner requirements
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable systems on AWS and/or on-premises environments
  • Utilize Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of cloud infrastructure resources
  • Monitor system performance, uptime, and reliability to meet and exceed service level objectives (SLOs)
  • Support SOC2 security compliance standards for data handling and system security
  • Mentor and guide team members in best practices for DevOps, fostering a culture of reliability and continuous improvement
  • Automate operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment workflows
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response teams to ensure system stability and rapid resolution of issues
  • Assist in capacity planning, performance tuning, and making informed technical decisions to support growth
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for infrastructure and operational processes
