About The Role
As a Data Scientist on the Rentals Data Science - Shopping team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the rental discovery experience for millions of users. Your primary focus will be partnering with cross-functional teams—including product management, engineering, design, and machine learning—to address high-impact challenges within the rental shopping funnel. You will leverage your expertise in data analysis, experimentation, and causal inference to shape product strategies and improve user engagement and satisfaction. Your work will involve designing and analyzing A/B tests, working with large-scale behavioral datasets, and translating complex insights into actionable recommendations to influence product development and prioritization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on the way renters find and select their next home, utilizing cutting-edge AI and data tools to automate workflows and scale your influence across the organization. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data science, preferably in a product-focused environment.
- Strong foundation in statistics, experimentation, and causal inference methodologies.
- Hands-on experience designing, running, and analyzing A/B tests and other experiments.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and modeling.
- Experience working with event or clickstream data (e.g., Google Analytics or similar tools).
- Ability to work with large-scale datasets and generate actionable insights.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently scope and structure ambiguous problems.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in automating workflows and leveraging modern AI and data tooling is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product, engineering, design, and ML teams to define and refine key metrics that drive improvements across the rental shopping funnel.
- Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests and experiments to understand renter behavior and measure product impact.
- Work with behavioral and clickstream datasets to uncover insights that inform product strategy and development.
- Translate complex data analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for cross-functional teams.
- Manage analytical projects end-to-end, including problem framing, methodology selection, execution, and communication of results and tradeoffs.
- Leverage AI, internal platforms, and data tools to automate processes, improve efficiency, and scale impact across the team.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements and innovations.
- Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends and best practices in data science and experimentation.
