About The Role
The Data Scientist at Sprouts Farmers Market will play a pivotal role in advancing the company's data-driven decision-making capabilities. This fully remote position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement machine learning models, recommender systems, and analytical solutions that enhance customer experiences and optimize business operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in data science, analytics, and programming, coupled with a keen business acumen to translate complex data into actionable insights. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in a joint business/technical role responsible for data development and delivering results
- Proven experience in training and deploying supervised and unsupervised machine learning models
- Strong programming skills, preferably in Python
- Advanced proficiency with SQL and database management
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure and Databricks (a plus)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio
- Knowledge of standard data formats including CSV, JSON, XML
- Ability to manage large, complex, and disparate data sources effectively
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and storytelling skills to communicate insights clearly
- High adaptability to changing environments, ambiguity, and incomplete information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High business acumen and retail industry knowledge (preferred)
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines efficiently
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and KPIs, designing analytical solutions that support strategic decisions
- Analyze data to identify anomalies, trends, and insights, providing actionable recommendations to business partners
- Develop, test, and refine machine learning models for predicting outcomes, customer segmentation, and personalized recommendations
- Implement machine learning solutions into production environments in partnership with IT teams
- Manage automated ETL processes, report distribution, and maintenance of business intelligence platforms
- Continuously improve data analytics processes, enabling faster and more accurate decision-making
- Respond to ad hoc data requests, supporting various teams with timely and relevant insights
- Ensure data integrity by validating sources, cleansing, standardizing, and integrating disparate data sets
- Partner with internal and external teams to incorporate new data sources and enhance existing datasets
- Participate in projects aimed at improving business intelligence capabilities, data governance, and master data management
- Provide leadership and guidance on best practices for data usage, monitoring, and performance management
