About The Role
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer II to join our Device Control and Automation Frameworks team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing efficiency tools that enhance the productivity of our engineering, QA, product, and user experience teams. Your primary responsibility will be to contribute to the development of platforms that enable engineers to remotely manage and test streaming devices. Operating as an intermediate-level professional, you will take ownership of software components, solving medium-complexity problems and contributing to system improvements. Your work will directly impact the quality and reliability of Disney’s streaming services, helping deliver seamless entertainment experiences to millions of users worldwide. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical role related to software engineering.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly within a team.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, debugging, and supporting software throughout its lifecycle.
  • Process-driven with a keen eye for detail, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications include familiarity with frontend and backend frameworks like React, Node.js, and ExpressJS, experience with streaming hardware such as TVs, gaming consoles, and set-top boxes, knowledge of cloud infrastructure including AWS services, and experience with remote device management platforms.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative tools for managing and automating streaming hardware, including creating device labs for Disney engineering teams, focusing on component-level coding to resolve moderately complex technical issues.
  • Collaborate closely with client developers to design industry-leading solutions that enable remote access and control of streaming devices, ensuring robust and scalable software solutions.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code, develop comprehensive tests, debug issues, and support software throughout its lifecycle to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Gather feature requests from users, develop solutions, perform testing, and deploy updates into production environments efficiently.
  • Conduct code reviews to uphold maintainability standards and serve as a technical resource for junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve the platform and contribute to innovative projects.
