UI/UX Designer with Illustration Background – Mobile Game
About the Role:
We're building a cozy social simulation mobile game (think Animal Crossing vibes) in Unity, and we need a UI/UX designer who can both design systems *and* illustrate beautiful, custom UI elements.
You'll design core game systems, inventory, settings, player interactions and create the illustrated assets that bring them to life. Whether you're early in your career or seasoned, if you love games and can blend thoughtful UX with hand-crafted visual design, we want to hear from you.
What We're Looking For:
A designer who sees UI as both functional *and* artistic. You're not just wireframing menus, you're illustrating buttons, icons, and interface elements that feel like they belong in a handcrafted game world. You think about art direction, not just usability. You understand how a beautifully illustrated health bar or inventory slot contributes to player immersion.
You'll Create:
- Custom illustrated UI assets (buttons, icons, frames, panels, HUD elements)
- Wireframes, prototypes, and interaction flows for game systems
- Visual specs and documentation for Unity implementation
- Clean, intuitive interfaces that feel playful and cohesive with the game's art style
You'll Collaborate With: Unity developers to ensure your designs translate smoothly into the game engine.
Required:
- ✓ Portfolio showing UI/UX work (mockups, implemented designs, or concepts)
- ✓ Strong illustration skills—we need to see custom-drawn UI elements, icons, or similar work
- ✓ Solid graphic design foundation and understanding of art direction
- ✓ Genuine love for games and understanding of what makes game UI compelling
Bonus:
- Experience with Unity UI Toolkit
- Background in casual/social simulation games
- Understanding of mobile UX considerations
Why This Role:
In social sims, UI isn't just functional, it's part of the world-building. Every menu, every icon, every transition contributes to the feeling of inhabiting a cozy, inviting space. If you're excited about designing *and illustrating* interfaces that players interact with hundreds of times, this is your project.

Send your portfolio highlighting both UI/UX work *and* illustration samples (especially any illustrated UI elements, icons, or game assets you've created). Include a brief note about your favorite game UI and why it works.
