Role summary
Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) is seeking a Data Scientist III in San Diego to develop and implement data science techniques. This role involves transforming raw data into meaningful information through data mining, modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning on large datasets. Responsibilities include visualizing, interpreting, and reporting data findings, and creating dynamic data reports. The position requires a Master’s Degree, 10+ years of data science experience, specific experience with DoD acquisition organizations and databases, and 3 years of direct support for Navy or DoD data visualization products. A DoD Secret Clearance is mandatory.

Responsibilities
The Data Scientist III position will develop and implement a set of techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software. They may also perform data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from lage structured and unstruture datasets, as well as visualize, interpret, and report data findings and create dynamic data reports.
Other responsibilities may include: 1) Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets, 2) Visualize, interpret, and report data findings, and 3) Create dynamic data reports.
CA Pay Transparency Salary Range: $140K - $165K.
Required
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- 10 (ten) or more years of professional experience with data science
- Professional experience with DoD acquisition organizations spanning ACAT I/II to ACAT III/IV & AAPs, Projects, and Adaptive Acquisition Framework Pathways (to include Software Acquisition Pathway, Middle Tier Acquisition Pathway, etc.)
- Data management and data visualization experience with leveraging the Navy or comparable DoD databases (i.e. Odin, NMCI, N-ERP, Flankspeed, etc.)
- Three (3) years of this experience in direct support of a Navy or DoD data visualization products
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to maintain it throughout employment
