TechForGood is seeking a Senior Backend / Infrastructure Engineer in NYC for a hybrid role, working 4 days onsite. This Series A, VC-backed startup is building AI-driven systems that operate on real-time data at scale. The role focuses on scaling systems, improving reliability, and solving performance challenges for their widely used product. Responsibilities include scaling high-volume, real-time data backend systems, designing for reliability and performance, enhancing observability, building data pipelines, and removing bottlenecks. The ideal candidate has strong backend fundamentals, Python and AWS infrastructure experience, and experience in high-growth startup environments.

We’re working with a Series A, VC-backed startup building AI-driven systems that operate on real-time data at meaningful scale.

This is a backend/infrastructure role focused on scaling systems, improving reliability, and solving real performance challenges. The product is widely used, and now hitting a point where the infrastructure needs to support a step-change in volume and complexity.

What you’ll be working on

  • Scaling backend systems handling high-volume, real-time data
  • Designing for reliability, performance, and failure at scale
  • Improving observability and system resilience
  • Building and evolving data-heavy services and pipelines
  • Removing bottlenecks as the platform grows

What they’re looking for

  • Strong backend fundamentals (APIs, databases, concurrency, system design)
  • Experience working on systems where reliability and performance matter
  • Comfortable with architecture, trade-offs, and failure modes
  • Python + AWS experience
  • Background in high-growth or VC-backed environments
