As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a critical role in establishing the company’s technical foundation, directly shaping engineering practices, culture, and fundamental product architecture in a highly collaborative, impact-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Build and scale foundational backend infrastructure to power automation in manufacturing, deploying your work to production frequently.
• Develop performant REST APIs and backend services using Python, shaping and influencing the technical stack as the company grows.
• Design and implement robust PostgreSQL database models and integrate caching solutions such as Redis for high-performance applications.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and designers to deliver user-facing features and implement UI based on Figma designs and a native-feel design system.
• Lead critical decisions in backend architecture, including real-time collaboration, third-party integrations, and sync mechanisms for complex state management.
• Create analytics, monitoring, and service integration layers, including product analytics and transactional email workflows.
• Participate in shaping the product roadmap, exercising significant autonomy and technical ownership.
• Approach both rapid prototyping and foundational engineering with pragmatic attention to detail and maintainability.

Must-Have Skills:

• Extensive experience building production-grade backend systems, ideally in engineering or manufacturing environments.
• Strong proficiency with Python for backend development.
• Hands-on expertise with PostgreSQL database modeling and performance tuning.
• Proven track record building and scaling REST APIs and integrating caching layers (e.g., Redis).
• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure on AWS or comparable cloud platforms.
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, high-autonomy team, owning and rapidly delivering end-to-end solutions.
• Meticulous code hygiene, pragmatic problem-solving, and clear technical communication skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Exposure to manufacturing technologies, automation systems, or IoT integrations.
• Experience implementing sync and offline functionality, using technologies such as IndexedDB.
• Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript for occasional full-stack or UI development tasks.
• Proficiency with configuring product analytics, monitoring solutions, and transactional email services.
• Comfort working with Figma or collaborating on design-to-production workflows.
• Self-optimization habits or an interest in productivity systems and tools.
