About the Role and Job:
Role:
Software Engineer - Data Center Emulator / AI Agent Development
Location:
Santa Clara, CA (Onsite)
The roles focus on (1) Data Center Emulator and (2) AI Agent Development. Candidates with strong experience in either area are encouraged to apply.
We are looking for Senior Software Engineers to build production‑grade systems that combine data center infrastructure modeling and AI‑driven automation. These roles sit at the intersection of systems engineering, Python development, industrial device integration, and applied AI.
You will work on:
- A
data Center emulation platform
used for development, testing, and operational readiness
- AI agents
that automate device onboarding and continuously monitor real‑world infrastructure
What You’ll Do
Data Center Systems & Emulation
- Design and build a web‑based data center emulator that models power, cooling, and compute infrastructure
- Simulate realistic operational behavior, including fault and degradation scenarios
- Generate telemetry data and simulate device/network behavior for downstream systems
- Ground simulations in real‑world physical constraints (power, thermal, infrastructure behavior)
AI Agent Development
- Build AI agents that automate device discovery, onboarding, and registration
- Develop agents that continuously monitor infrastructure changes and maintain accurate digital representations
- Integrate AI agents with real physical devices using industrial protocols
- Ensure agents are reliable, observable, and production‑ready
Engineering & Architecture
- Design clean, extensible Python‑based services
- Define clear specifications and acceptance criteria for complex systems
- Build APIs and services that perform reliably under concurrent load
- Collaborate closely with platform, infrastructure, and operations teams
Required Quali
fi
cations
- 8 or more years of professional software engineering experience, with a demonstrated record of delivering production systems.
- Deep expertise in software design and architecture. This role involves substantial use of AI-assisted development tooling, and success depends on the ability to produce precise, unambiguous specifications that can be implemented reliably and verified against clear acceptance criteria.
- Hands-on experience building AI agents or agentic workflows in production environments, including tool use, state management, and reliable execution under real-world conditions.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure AI Foundry or a directly comparable enterprise AI platform for building and deploying agent-based services.
- Strong Python development skills. Agent services will be built primarily in Python and must be well-structured for extensibility and long-term maintainability. / Strong Python development skills. The emulator will be built primarily in Python and must be structured for maintainability and extensibility from the start.
- Demonstrated experience working with industrial device protocols, specifically Modbus, BACnet, and OPC-UA. The contractor must be able to build agent integrations that communicate with physical devices accurately and reliably.
- Experience working with digital twin concepts or asset registry systems, including the challenges of keeping a software representation of a physical environment consistent overtime.
- Experience building web-based services and APIs, including considerations for performance under concurrent load from multiple consuming systems.
- Familiarity with physics-based simulation or numerical modeling in the context of building systems, power systems, or thermal environments.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience with data center infrastructure, DCIM, or facilities systems
- Exposure to physics‑based simulation (power, thermal, energy systems)
- Experience with AI agents or agentic workflows in production
- Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry or similar enterprise AI platforms
- Experience with digital twin concepts
- Knowledge of additional protocols such as MQTT / Sparkplug‑B / DNP3
- Background in energy systems, building systems, or infrastructure platforms
