Role summary

Tesla is seeking a System Software Engineer for its AI Platforms team to develop and deploy mission-critical software for autonomous vehicle and humanoid robot platforms. The role involves designing and implementing system software for sensors, developing Linux kernel modules and real-time embedded software, and creating robust architectures for inter-process communication. Responsibilities include building telemetry and monitoring solutions, driving technical requirements for future systems, and collaborating with hardware teams. The position requires strong C and C++ skills, with preferred experience in Linux kernel/drivers/RTOS and embedded Linux programming.

What To Expect
We're seeking a system software engineer to join our AI Platforms team, working on system software that powers our autonomous vehicle (Autopilot) and humanoid robot platforms. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy mission-critical software that manages complex sensor systems and real-time processing. You will get to work on one of the most advanced and widely deployed AI platforms and ship software that improves the driving experience for millions of customers.
What You'll Do- Design and implement system software for sensors including GPS and IMU
- Develop and maintain Linux kernel modules and real-time embedded software
- Create robust system software architectures that handle inter-process communication between compute nodes
- Build telemetry and monitoring solutions for platform health and performance
- Drive technical requirements for next-generation autonomous systems
- Collaborate with hardware teams on bring-up and validation of new platforms
- Maintain high code quality through testing, documentation, and code reviews
What You'll Bring- Engineering Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience
- Strong C and C++ skills required
- Experience working on sensors would be preferred
- Linux Kernel/Driver/RTOS experience preferred
- Experience with embedded Linux programming preferred
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills

Expected Compensation
$132,000 - $330,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
