Position Summary

Our client, who is in the insurance space, is looking for a Product Owner to support a high-visibility, customer-facing digital product team. In this role you will help drive enhancements across external experience platforms, with a strong focus on usability, feature prioritization, backlog ownership, and stakeholder alignment. The work centers on improving digital experiences for external users while partnering closely with engineering, design, and business leadership.

This role is ideal for a seasoned Product Owner who has already operated in fast-paced delivery environments and can step in with minimal ramp-up. The right person will be comfortable managing multiple workstreams in parallel, writing clear stories, prioritizing business value, and communicating effectively with both technical teams and highly visible business stakeholders. This is a 6-month contract with the expectation to extend, and is open to candidates located anywhere in the United States. This role is not open to sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the product backlog for a customer-facing digital platform, ensuring priorities are clearly aligned to business goals and delivery capacity.

• Translate business needs, user feedback, and enhancement opportunities into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that support efficient execution by development teams.

• Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, balancing parallel workstreams while keeping delivery teams adequately fed with ready backlog items.

• Partner closely with front-end-focused software engineers, technical leadership, QA, and design to support ongoing product enhancement and experience optimization.

• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to evaluate requests, set expectations, communicate tradeoffs, and prioritize the highest-value work.

• Use digital product metrics, behavioral data, and user sentiment to assess feature performance and identify opportunities to improve workflows and platform effectiveness.

• Leverage analytics insights from customer-facing tools and dashboards to monitor adoption, drop-off points, usability trends, and enhancement impact.

• Support feature discovery and solution refinement in partnership with UX/design resources and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Recognize when additional business analysis support is needed, help direct that work, and ensure discovery and backlog preparation continue to move forward effectively.

• Represent the product function in a highly visible environment, providing clear updates and strong communication to leadership and business partners.

• Help improve external digital experiences by prioritizing enhancements tied to usability, navigation, findability, and overall customer satisfaction.

Minimum Experience

• 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Analyst, or similar role supporting agile software delivery teams.

• Demonstrated experience owning and prioritizing backlogs in fast-moving environments with high delivery expectations.

• Strong experience writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and partnering closely with developers to maintain delivery readiness.

• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and prioritize effectively across competing demands.

• Experience supporting external or customer-facing digital products, portals, or web-based application experiences.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to navigate high-pressure environments and influence priorities across business and technical teams.

• Experience using analytics, customer feedback, or digital behavior insights to inform product decisions and measure feature effectiveness.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, QA, UX/design, and business leaders in an agile setting.

• Previous experience with front-end-oriented product teams and digital experience optimization efforts.

Additional Plus

• Experience with Salesforce-backed platforms or products that integrate heavily with Salesforce.

• Exposure to tools such as Google Analytics, Pendo, or similar platforms used to monitor user behavior and product sentiment.

• Prior Business Analyst experience or the ability to lead discovery and requirements refinement independently.

• Experience in insurance, member/agent-facing platforms, or other regulated, service-oriented industries.
