Role summary
The Salvation Army is seeking a Camp Program Manager / Regional Program Lead to provide leadership and oversight for camp programs at Scotian Glen. This role involves managing all aspects of camp programming, ensuring alignment with organizational mission and standards, and enhancing camper experience. The position requires supervising and mentoring program leadership staff, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Responsibilities also include managing risk, coordinating staff training, designing spiritual development initiatives, and collaborating with ministry partners. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in children and youth programming, including leadership and staff supervision, and a relevant post-secondary diploma.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Divisional Youth Secretary the Camp Program Manager / Regional Program Lead provides leadership and oversight of camp program at Scotian Glen (SCG),
Responsibilities include collaborative staff orientation, summer staff oversight/supervision, camp promotion & ministry unit connections year-round. In collaboration with the DCMD – Divisional Camping Ministries Director & Divisional Youth Secretary, the incumbent is responsible for the safety and well-being of all campers, staff, and volunteers and ensures all programs and services are delivered in accordance with The Salvation Army's mission, vision, and values.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead all aspects of camp programming, ensuring alignment with organizational mission and standards.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance camper experience and ministry impact.
- Supervise and mentor program leadership staff, including setting objectives and conducting evaluations.
- Oversee daily camp operations, ensuring safe, engaging, and high-quality programming.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, provincial regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Manage risk and crisis response, including emergency procedures and incident reporting.
- Coordinate and deliver staff training, fostering leadership development and team cohesion.
- Design and support spiritual and leadership development initiatives, including camper follow-up.
- Collaborate with ministry partners and internal teams to support regional programming and outreach.
- Manage program resources, including budgeting, inventory, and planning for future seasons.
Education And Experience Qualifications
- Completion of a minimum two-year post-secondary diploma in a related field.
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification required (OFA Level 1; Level 3 preferred); additional provincial certifications as required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in children and youth programming, including leadership and staff supervision.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and team management skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk management practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with camp management systems (e.g., CampBrain, Amilia).
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driver’s abstract and ability to complete required background checks.
Working Conditions
- Extended and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends during peak seasons.
- Required to reside on-site from May to September; travel within the region as needed.
- Physically active role, including lifting up to 50 lbs and facilitating outdoor activities.
- Work conducted in outdoor camp environments with varying weather conditions.
- May involve responding to emergencies, behavioral incidents, and conflict situations.
This is a temporary full time position.
Salary range below is based on the annual salary at 40hrs per week.
Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is $40,919.39 to $51,149.24 with a maximum of $61,379.09.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
