Role summary

The Next Generation Scholars Program Manager will oversee and manage an after-school and summer program for high school students, focusing on post-secondary education and career readiness. Responsibilities include program development, staff supervision, budget management, and direct student engagement. How this role contributes to the Y’s mission:
The Next Generation Scholars Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing an after-school and summer program designed to support high school students in preparing for post-secondary education and career training. This role includes program development, staff supervision, budget management, and direct student engagement. The ideal candidate will be passionate about youth development, college and career readiness, and leadership growth.
This work is right for you if you have:

  • A love of encouraging youth and family
  • The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
  • Prior experience with outcomes-based youth programming, including planning and implementation of trips and curricula
  • Prior experience with the development of effective partnerships that enhance youth development programming
  • A bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field

It emphasizes treating youth with respect and fairness, avoiding inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhering to established standards of affection. The policy strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment. Additionally, associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.
