This position is responsible for tasks relating to the design, development, and implementation of shared services that support other Controls engineering teams. The Controls Software Engineer I collaborates closely with their team leader and peers, ensuring that all products and services meet or exceed customer expectations. This role serves a diverse range of industries, including manufacturing, supply chain logistics, and engineering.
Job Functions
- Collaboration within a team or works independently on projects within the primary focus area.
- Contributes to the design and implementation of deliverables within the primary focus area Performs hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting; integrates potential new hardware into software designs.
- Leverages programming expertise to develop efficiency tools that optimize daily engineering tasks.
- Coordinates with engineers across disciplines to support effective conference room testing.
- Maintains open and transparent communication with peers, stakeholders, and team leadership to support project success.
- Participate actively and on time in scheduled meetings, including Controls staff meetings.
- Drives customer success by delivering projects that exceed expectations and align with market demand.
- Commits to completing tasks within budgeted project hours.
- Provides cross-functional support to project teams, contributing beyond the scope of Controls when needed.
- Develops innovative Controls techniques, products, or services, maintaining a competitive edge in the industry.
- Fosters a collaborative team environment, actively contributing to office culture and success.
- Completes administrative tasks promptly, including timesheets and expense reports.
- Represents Toyota Automated Logistics professionally, promoting the company in relevant forums.
- Cultivates long-term customer relationships, driving repeat business and trust.
- Adapts to evolving responsibilities, taking on additional duties as needed.
Travel Requirements
- Overnight travel up to 35%
Required Skills & Qualifications
- BS degree in either an engineering or computer science discipline.
- Experience within the primary focus area with proficiency in database experience (SQL)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite tools
- Strong team collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines effectively.
- Highly motivated and results-driven
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
- Employees must follow all information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report any suspected security incidents to support our information security controls.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Material Handling experience
- Understanding of PLC programming
- Proficiency in emulation software/SCADA software
- Capable of interpreting field device layouts (P&ID, machine schematics, etc.)
- Attend training and become certified in applications or tools used within the team. Ignition Core/Gold
- Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently in a fast-moving environment.
