Automation Engineering Specialist
Role summary
This Automation Engineering Specialist role focuses on internal process automation within a manufacturing environment, specifically impacting material flow. The specialist will evaluate, implement, and support automated material handling and warehousing solutions, including robotics, AGVs/AMRs, ASRS, and conveyors. Key responsibilities include acting as a subject matter expert, improving material and process flows, enhancing safety and ergonomics through automation, scoping applications, managing RFQs and vendors, and contributing to the company's automation initiative plan. The role requires advanced technical skills in electrical controls, robotics, and autonomous vehicles, along with strong project management and communication abilities.
Reports to TTAI MERIT Manager. This role will be responsible for automation efforts for internal processes impacting material flow within the manufacturing environment. This includes but is not limited to evaluating, implementing, & supporting automated material handling/warehousing solutions such as advanced robotics, AGV/AMR, ASRS, & conveyors.
Objectives:
- Support Conveyance departmental goals as a subject matter expert for automation
- Understand and improve material & process flows throughout the facility by automating steps within the process
- Improve the safety & ergonomics for team members within processes by automating part of their workload
- Accurately scope applications, issue RFQ’s, analyze vendor options, & manage contractors
- Contribute to the completion of TTAI’s automation initiative plan by successfully implementing previously identified automation projects as well as identifying new opportunities
- Complete tasks assigned to support overall departmental success
- Overtime and off-shift emergency support will be required as needed
- Opportunities for travel (up to 15%)
- B.S. Degree in related field with applicable automation engineering experience
- Advanced technical skills: Electrical Controls, Robotics, Autonomous Vehicles
- Reliable and punctual; willing to learn and demonstrate initiative
- Proficient communication (oral & written) across all levels of the organization
- Efficient time management, project management, & organization skills
- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite experience
