Role summary

Position summary
Valley CAN is seeking a Program Manager to oversee coordination, reporting, and tracking activities for the Electric Vehicle Maintenance Technician Training (EVMTT) Program, a four-year workforce development initiative designed to prepare students and job seekers for high-demand roles in clean transportation and zero-emission vehicle maintenance.

The Program Manager reports directly to the Program Director and serves as the central point of coordination among campuses, instructors, training partners, outreach teams, and Valley CAN staff. This role supports daily program operations, manages documentation, tracks spending and participant outcomes, and ensures the program meets all grant and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Track and reconcile program budgets, spending, and invoices
  • Maintain program data, records, and grant compliance documentation
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports summarizing outcomes and financial activity
  • Monitor deadlines, deliverables, and campus obligations
  • Coordinate schedules for training sessions, outreach events, and meetings
  • Provide logistical support to campus partners, instructors, and training sites
  • Support the distribution and tracking of scholarships, stipends, and incentives
  • Assist with partner documents such as MOUs and instructional agreements
  • Maintain calendars, timelines, and project task lists
  • Support communication between Valley CAN staff, campuses, and external partners
  • Track participant outcomes, credentials, certifications, and job placement data
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen reporting accuracy and efficiency

Minimum requirements

  • At least five years of technical automotive or equipment maintenance/service experience
  • Experience with curricular processes, classroom or lab support, or multi-site educational program coordination
  • Ability to follow directions, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Associate’s degree in education, automotive technology, business, or a related field
  • Ability to work with high school and community college students, instructors, and administrators
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and basic databases
  • Ability to travel throughout California(primarily southern California) to partner campuses and events
  • ASE xEV Level 1, xEV Level 2, A6, A8, and L3 certifications, or the ability to obtain them within three months of hire
  • A standard work week is 40 hours, with adjustments based on project needs

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education, automotive technology, business, or a related field
  • Experience in workforce development, educational programs, grants, service management, or nonprofit operations
  • Experience with electrified vehicles and zero-emission vehicle technologies
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills
