Role summary

Uber's Autonomous Mobility & Delivery (AM&D) team is seeking a Senior Product Designer to design tools, systems, and human AI interfaces for self-driving technology. This role requires deep technical fluency and a passion for complex robotic and AI-driven systems. The designer will contribute to mission-critical tools for fleet operations, autonomy workflows, and system monitoring, translating complex technical constraints into usable interfaces. They will partner closely with engineering, PM, research, and operations, and evolve design systems for autonomy and robotics tooling, setting a high bar for craft and execution.

About The Role
Uber's Autonomous Mobility & Delivery (AM&D) team is redefining how people and goods move through the world using self-driving technology. We design the tools, systems, and human AI interfaces that enable autonomy to operate safely and at global scale.
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer with deep technical fluency and a passion for designing complex robotic and AI driven systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in highly technical environments, partners closely with engineering, and shapes product direction while raising the bar for design across the team.
What You Will Do

  • Contribute to the design of mission critical tools that support fleet operations, autonomy workflows, remote assistance, and system monitoring across Uber's AV ecosystem.
  • Translate complex technical constraints, autonomy behaviors, and real time data flows into clear, usable, and resilient interfaces.
  • Partner deeply with engineering, PM, research, and operations to shape product direction from early technical exploration through execution.
  • Design and evolve scalable interaction patterns, frameworks, and internal design systems for autonomy and robotics tooling.
  • Set a high bar for craft, clarity, and execution, influencing quality beyond your immediate product area.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Design or equivalent practical experience, with demonstrated ownership of complex systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong portfolio showcasing deeply technical work, including internal tools, robotics interfaces, AI driven products, or operational platforms.
  • Proven ability to design for complex workflows, edge cases, and high consequence environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma and modern design and prototyping workflows.
  • Strong foundation in information architecture, interaction design, and systems thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working closely with highly technical partners in ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Experience designing for autonomous systems, robotics, or advanced AI driven products.
  • Background in tooling design, including internal platforms, operational dashboards, or control interfaces.
  • Familiarity with real time systems, geospatial data, live monitoring, telemetry, or remote assistance workflows.
  • Experience contributing to or leading internal design systems for complex products.
  • Comfort reasoning about technical tradeoffs and constraints, and translating them into design decisions.
