Role summary

The Program Manager, Data Impact & Governance will lead the coordination and execution of an AI core competencies framework for the UT System's AI in Health initiative. This role supports safe and responsible AI acceleration in healthcare education and practice across MD Anderson and the UT System. The Program Manager partners with senior leaders and educators to ensure timely delivery of program outputs. The ideal candidate has program management experience in healthcare, higher education, or research institutions, with strong organizational, communication, and timeline management skills, and is comfortable working with senior stakeholders on complex, cross-institutional initiatives. The position is remote within Texas only.

The
Program Manager, Data Impact & Governance
plays a central role within the Data Impact & Governance Department supporting UT REAL Health AI, a University of Texas System initiative focused on the safe and responsible acceleration of artificial intelligence in health. The Program Manager, Data Impact & Governance leads coordination and execution of a high-impact AI core competencies framework that supports the current and future health sciences workforce, educators, and students across MD Anderson and the UT System.
In this role, the Program Manager, Data Impact & Governance partners closely with senior leaders, educators, and external contributors to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of program outputs that advance responsible AI adoption in healthcare education and practice.
The
ideal candidate
is a seasoned program management professional with experience in healthcare, higher education, research institutions, government, or consulting, bringing strong organizational skills, executive-level communication abilities, timeline management expertise, and comfort working with senior stakeholders on complex, cross-institutional initiatives.
Minimum $79,000 - Midpoint $99,000 - Maximum $119,000 based on a 40-hour work week.
Work Location: Remote within Texas only; soft-funded position.

The Program Manager, Data Impact & Governance contributes to meaningful, system-wide impact while collaborating with thought leaders across MD Anderson and the UT System, supporting professional growth, innovation, and balanced remote work within Texas.

Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Execution

  • Evaluate, organize, manage, direct, and implement program activities from documentation through final deliverables
  • Lead coordination and execution of the AI core competencies framework across MD Anderson and UT System
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs aligned with program charter and scope

Planning, Budgeting & Reporting

  • Develop program plans, timelines, and financial projections
  • Prepare invoices, budget templates, and financial analyses
  • Manage timekeeping and monitor budget performance

Content & Framework Development

  • Drive and participate in iterative development of frameworks, engagement materials, research summaries, and educational materials
  • Coordinate stakeholder contributions to AI-focused educational content as needed
  • Ensure content reflects safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with senior stakeholders, subject matter experts, and technologists
  • Identify and drive engagement opportunities across MD Anderson and UT System
  • Draft, polish, and distribute executive-level communications and deliverables

Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate and report program progress weekly against strategic priorities
  • Track milestones, risks, and dependencies to ensure follow-through and accountability
  • Lead or support project teams as assigned

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred: Master's Degree

Work Experience

  • Required: 5 years Related experience to include three years program management. or
  • Required: 3 years Experience required with Master's degree.
  • May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience in program management in healthcare, higher education, research institutions, or government, consultant, experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder programs, experience coordinating cross-institutional or system-wide initiatives, comfortable working with executives, educators, PPT executive level slide building, budget template, reporting, excellent with organizational skills, documentation, timelines, follow-through, deadline driven, proactive, and experience managing excel files.
