Position Overview
Veritech Consulting is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to support Department of Defense Cyber Defense Command initiatives focused on DCO AI Cybersecurity.
This role serves as the technical lead for the Data Science Team, driving strategy and execution for advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modeling in support of enterprise cyber mission requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of data scientists, ML engineers, and operations research analysts
- Define and execute AI/ML strategy across DCO mission sets
- Design and oversee model development including:
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Network analysis
- Time-series forecasting
- Develop predictive, prescriptive, and descriptive analytics for DCO-IDM operations
- Direct experimentation and model evaluation campaigns to improve analytic performance
- Ensure alignment with ASOM and Analytic Crosswalk frameworks
- Present analytic findings and recommendations to senior DoD leadership
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across cyber, platform, and mission stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years (BS/BA)
- 10+ years (MS/MA)
- 7+ years (PhD)
Technical Expertise:
- Python, R, and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
- NLP, network analysis, and time-series modeling
- Statistical modeling and experimental design
- Big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark)
Leadership:
- 5+ years leading technical teams in DoD or IC environments
- Experience briefing senior leadership and mission stakeholders
Clearance:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active DoD TS clearance with SCI eligibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree required; PhD preferred in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field
- AWS or Azure Machine Learning certifications
- CISSP or equivalent cybersecurity certification
- Experience supporting DCO, cyber analytics, or mission AI initiatives
