Backend Software Engineering Intern - Fall 2026
Role summary
Verkada is seeking a Backend Software Engineering Intern for Fall 2026 to join their HQ in San Mateo, CA. The intern will work on building scalable distributed systems, collaborating cross-functionally, and contributing to the development of Verkada's security systems. Responsibilities include working with key-value and relational databases, messaging technologies, deployment tools like Terraform and Kubernetes, and designing microservice architectures. The role requires active pursuit of a Computer Science degree, graduating by June 2027, and prior internship experience. Familiarity with Python/Golang, Distributed Systems, Operating Systems, AWS, and Docker is preferred. About the Role
Verkada is looking for software engineering interns to join our team for an exciting and challenging internship. We are seeking interns who will thrive in a startup culture working alongside teammates to launch products that will be utilized by customers across the globe. As an intern working with the Backend Engineering team, you will have opportunities to work across the full software stack and collaborate cross-functionally to build the latest iterations of Verkada’s flagship software enabling our best-in-class security systems.
