Engineering Manager, Atlas (Spatial Systems)
Role summary
Verkada is seeking an Engineering Manager for its Atlas team, responsible for the Maps mandate. This role is a 'Player-Coach' position focused on building the V1 of the Spatial System from the ground up, including the image pipeline and collaborative editing protocols. The manager will lead the design of a modular, plugin-based architecture, define SDKs and APIs for product teams, and oversee data ingestion systems transforming unstructured data into vector data using ML and automated processing. Key responsibilities include hiring and mentoring a founding team of 4-6 engineers, establishing engineering culture, and acting as a technical diplomat for the Maps mandate. The ideal candidate has a strong execution bias, technical grit, experience in platform architecture, data pipelines, and sophisticated frontend development.

About the Team
Atlas is the founding engineering team responsible for the Maps mandate at Verkada. Our mission is to transform the physical world into a high-performance, interactive digital twin. We build the Spatial Systems—the core rendering engine, tiling infrastructure, and collaborative APIs—that power the visual interface for our entire product ecosystem.
The Platform Mandate
Atlas does not build siloed features. We build a Spatial Platform that our core Product Teams—including Cameras, Access Control, Sensors, Alarms, and Admin—use as their canvas. You will be responsible for ensuring that as we scale to 8+ product lines, the map remains a performant, unified, and "multiplayer" experience.

Annual Pay Range
At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs)
Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).
