
Senior Software QA Engineer
Role summary
Verve is seeking a Senior Software QA Engineer to join their team focused on commercializing wearable solutions for worker safety and experience. This role involves developing and executing test plans for IoT hardware devices and web applications, utilizing both manual and automated testing methods. The engineer will also be responsible for improving testing processes, scripting, monitoring tools, and cloud services (AWS). Collaboration with product management, design engineering, and mentoring junior QA engineers are key aspects of this position. The role emphasizes a quality-driven approach and best practices within a growing startup environment.

Role
- Work with product management & design engineering to develop test plans based on system/software specifications, requirements, and conops
- Work with project management to develop and execute software product release schedules
- Execute developed test plans using a combination of manual and automated system & subsystem testing
- Develop new tests and capabilities within the QA function
- Continuously improve testing methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide clear, thorough, and accurate reporting of test results, highlighting any issues discovered during testing.
- Collaborate with design engineers to identify root causes and resolve performance issues
- Help to institute and improve engineering best practices using industry experience following a quality-driven stage gate process
- Mentor and develop more-junior quality engineers
You
- 5-10 years of experience as an SQA or software systems engineer for complex network-enabled IoT hardware devices and web applications
- Proficient in scripting languages such as python, golang, bash
- Proficient with monitoring and test tools such as Mezmo, Postman, and Metabase
- Experience using AWS services including S3, Lambda, RDS, Amplify
- Experience with software QA automation, building software test automation infrastructure & processes
- Experience with bug tracking systems such as Jira, Bugzilla, etc
- Experience working with engineering and product teams to capture, triage, and review bug reports
- Experience mentoring other QA engineers
- Familiar with hardware V&V testing
- Solid analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and communication/presentation skills
- Proficiency in test development, including creating test plans, test cases and test scripts.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

This is an in-office role, though we are flexible on WFH and most people work remotely one or two days per week.
