Associate, Software Engineer
Role summary
We are seeking a curious, growth-oriented Associate Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role focuses on building user-facing web applications using TypeScript and React within a 401(k) platform. You will work on well-scoped tickets with mentorship from senior engineers, contribute to code reviews, and learn production software development practices. Responsibilities include writing and maintaining unit tests, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and incrementally shipping code. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Git, and testing frameworks is expected, with bonus points for experience in Node.js frameworks, specific UI libraries, Agile practices, or the financial services industry. This is a hybrid role based in our Austin office.

You don’t need to own a product vertical yet — you will work on well-scoped tickets with support from senior engineers, contribute to code reviews, and gradually take on more independent work.

This role will be based in our Austin office and will be part of Vestwell's hybrid in-office operation.
The expected base salary range for this position is $95K - $110K base. This position is eligible to participate in the Company Bonus Pool and is eligible to receive new hire equity in the Company. Please note that salary bands are based on NY and other similar metro areas and may differ based on where the role is ultimately hired.
