Position Title: SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER (Full Time, Exempt)

Who’ll You Report To: Sr. Engineering Manager

About the Role

We are modernizing our backend systems, migrating from Magic XPA to a serverless Node.js architecture. We’re looking for full-stack engineers who can quickly learn Magic XPA, understand its structure, and help us transition to modern cloud-based solutions.

This role is ideal for engineers with experience in legacy system modernization, low-code/4GL platforms, and serverless technologies. If you enjoy reverse-engineering existing applications and architecting scalable solutions, we’d love to hear from you!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evolve and extend the custom XPA based platform to meet growing business needs.
  • Design and implement a serverless Node.js system to replace legacy components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption.
  • Migrate and optimize data from legacy databases to modern cloud-based storage solutions.
  • Develop APIs, event-driven workflows, and integrations with external systems.
  • Support and troubleshoot production issues related to both the legacy and new platforms during the transition.
  • Java/Kubernetes backend application development.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with legacy system modernization, including migrating from older platforms to modern architectures.
  • Strong backend development experience with Node.js (TypeScript preferred), AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong database skills (SQL Server preferred, PostgreSQL, or MySQL databases).
  • Ability to reverse-engineer complex systems and document findings.
  • Java and/or Kubernetes experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with low-code/4GL platforms (Magic XPA, Progress OpenEdge, Uniface, OutSystems, etc.) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of message queues (SQS, Kafka, etc.) and distributed systems is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with benefit enrollment workflows is a plus.

What We Offer

Base salary: $110,000- $150,000 annually. Eligible for quarterly bonus earnings, up to 10% of annual salary. Actual compensation offered may vary depending upon many factors, including a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
