Role summary
The Manager, Platform Engineering is a senior technical role responsible for the design, development, and implementation of major systems and software programs. This position acts as the primary technical expert, consulting with business and IT management to define complex business requirements and develop efficient solutions. Key responsibilities include system analysis, application program development, technical project management, and ensuring adherence to technical standards. The role also involves managing technical projects, acting as a system administrator for third-party products, and performing all managerial duties, including staff training, performance evaluation, hiring, and budget input. A Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of eight years of IT experience are required.

What You Will Do
- Provides comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level for all phases of the project development cycle.
- Works closely with client management to identify and specify the complex business requirements and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments (i.e., host based, distributed systems, client server), software, hardware, technologies and tools, etc.
- Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective solution for the system design.
- Provides input to project plans, analyzes, designs, and develops systems.
- Codes new or modifies existing programs, reuses existing code utilizing program development software alternatives and/or integrates purchased solutions, as needed.
- Documents, tests, implements and provides on-going support for the applications.
- Provides highly technical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies, which assist the functional business units in meeting their strategic objectives.
- Acts as expert technical resource to development staff in all phases of the development and implementation process.
- Develops technical standards and guidelines for application development processes.
- Conducts analysis on third party products and related interface design.
- Functions as system administrator for third party products.
- Manages technical projects and works with business partner and IT leads to plan and resource within budget.
- Performs all duties in a managerial role. Ensures effective staff training, evaluates staff performance, provides input for the development of the department budget, and hires, promotes, and terminates staff and recommends salary actions as appropriate.

Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or another closely related field Required
Work Experience:
- Minimum eight years diverse Information Technology experience including systems analysis and application program development Required
- Advanced knowledge of the system development life cycle, client area’s functions/systems, and system and application program development technological alternatives Required
- The ability to make strong judgments, work effectively with all levels of clients and IS management and staff, and work at the highest technical level of all phases of system design and implementation Required
- Advanced technical knowledge of two platforms (mainframe, mid or micro) and two applicable programming languages (COBOL or CICS, ORACLE or PEOPLE TOOLS, VISUAL BASIC or JAVA) for each platform, job control language (JCL) and application program development alternatives. (A number of these skills and languages may be defined as ‘hot skills’ depending upon the needs of the organization and their availability within the technical marketplace at any given time) Required

Pay Range: USD $122,300.00 - USD $164,000.00 /Yr.
