Senior Software Engineer
Role summary
Voltari Marine Electric is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Panama City, Florida, to design, develop, and manufacture advanced electric propulsion systems. This role involves working closely with founders and product teams to build features, shape technical direction, and scale the engineering foundation. The engineer will contribute across the stack, influence architecture, and define how on-board software is built and integrated. Responsibilities include iterating on user feedback, working on control platforms, improving performance and reliability, setting engineering standards, mentoring team members, and owning services from development to production. The position requires 7-10+ years of experience in on-board software, strong real-time control technology experience, and familiarity with autonomous systems.

Voltari Marine Electric is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who thrives in fast-moving environments and enjoys building products from the ground up. In this role, you’ll work closely with founders, product teams, and design to quickly build features, shape the technical direction of the platform, and help scale our engineering foundation.
This is a high-ownership role where you will contribute across the stack, influence architecture, and help define how we build and integrate on-board software as the company grows.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work directly with product and design to iterate quickly based on user feedback.
- Work on multiple control platforms/systems.
- Improve application performance, reliability, and security.
- Set engineering standards, including code quality, testing, and deployment practices.
- Mentor team members and contribute to hiring as the team grows.
- Take ownership of services from development through production and monitoring.
PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS:
- 7-10+ years of experience building on-board software.
- Strong experience with real-time control technologies/controllers.
- Ability to move fast, prioritize well, and work with ambiguity.
- Strong problem-solving skills and product mindset.
- Experience building products used by real operators.
- Experience in growing teams from the ground up.
- Experience working on real-time process control software, including or similar to CAN bus or NMEA2000.
- OTA platforms / Data management.
- Unmanned / Autonomous Systems.
- Strong UI/UX intuition.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
