Job Purpose
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and models that support WHK’s analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making. This role plays a critical part in advancing WHK’s data-driven strategy, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and performance across systems.
Working cross-functionally, the Data Engineer translates business requirements into technical solutions while enabling efficient data flow, governance, and insights generation.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines in cloud environments (e.g., Azure, Snowflake, Fabric).
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows using tools such as dbt and Azure Data Factory.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues in pipelines and SQL queries.
Data Modeling & Architecture
- Design and implement data models to support reporting and analytics needs.
- Apply best practices in data architecture, including data layering, lineage, and transformation logic.
- Ensure consistency and scalability across data systems.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated data solutions.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and data products.
- Support analytics and reporting teams with reliable, well-structured data.
Data Governance & Quality
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and reliability across pipelines.
- Maintain documentation for data workflows, models, and processes.
- Support monitoring and observability of data systems.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, automation, and scalability.
- Stay current with emerging tools, technologies, and best practices in data engineering.
- Contribute to building a modern, scalable data ecosystem at WHK.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in data engineering or related role.
- Experience with modern data stack tools (dbt, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Fabric).
- Strong proficiency in SQL and data transformation workflows.
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts (e.g., star schema, slowly changing dimensions).
- Understanding of CI/CD and version control practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
