WaveMetrix partners with top Hollywood studios to analyze blockbuster data from social media, news, and buzz, transforming it into actionable insights for client decision-making. WaveMetrix is seeking a Data Engineer to ensure their data pipelines are trustworthy, available, and scalable. The role involves becoming proficient in the core data architecture, diagnosing and resolving data pipeline issues, owning production data pipelines, and developing new customer-facing data products and APIs.

WaveMetrix is searching for a data engineer to join our team to help ensure our data pipelines are trustworthy, available and scalable.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Become proficient in the company’s core data ingestion, storage, and reporting architecture within the first several months of employment.
- Investigate, diagnose, and perform root cause analysis on data pipeline and system issues to ensure reliable production operations.
- Assume ownership and ongoing maintenance responsibility for designated production data pipelines, ensuring stability, performance, and data quality.
- Design, develop, and deploy new customer-facing data products and APIs with increasing independence.
- Available to work extended or non-standard hours during high-impact media events
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining software in a Linux-based environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Linux system fundamentals, tooling, and command-line workflows.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure, including Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience working with data-intensive systems, such as ETL pipelines, distributed data processing workflows, and production monitoring and alerting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Broad engineering experience across the full data lifecycle, including data ingestion, storage, transformation, and API or reporting layers.
- Demonstrated ability to provide hands-on technical leadership, including writing production-quality code and contributing to system and architecture decisions.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous or evolving technical environments, including the ability to investigate, understand, and improve poorly documented or legacy systems.
- Prior experience in a small company or startup environment is a plus.
- The ideal candidate will have a healthy interest in learning all parts of the business and feel comfortable liaising with studio clients.
Work Location: Remote - preference for Pacific or Mountain timezones

Exemption Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $120,000 - $165,000 annually
