Role summary
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for its Investment Solutions Technology team. This role focuses on building high-performing, resilient platforms for mission-critical systems in alternative investments. The engineer will lead complex initiatives, design and develop applications, resolve technical issues, and ensure compliance and risk management. Key responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with stakeholders, and partnering with production support and platform engineering teams. The position requires significant experience in software engineering, brokerage technology, third-party vendor management, performance/reliability, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.

In this role, you will:
- Lead complex initiatives on selected domains
- Ensure systems are monitored to increase operational efficiency and managed to mitigate risk
- Define opportunities to maximize resource utilization and improve processes while reducing cost
- Lead, design, develop, test and implement applications and system components, tools and utilities, models, simulation, and analytics to manage complex business functions using sophisticated technologies
- Resolve coding, testing and escalated platform issues of a technically challenging nature
- Lead team to ensure compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
- Mentor less experienced software engineers
- Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including managers
- Lead team to achieve objectives
- Partner with production support and platform engineering teams effectively
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 3+ years of Brokerage firm technology experience
- 3+ years’ experience working with third party vendors in investments
- 3+ years of experience with performance and reliability initiatives in large-scale or distributed systems.
- 2+ years' experience with microservices
- 2+ years' experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures (OCP, Azure, or GCP)
Desired Qualifications:
- 4+ years of hands-on experience on full stack development and comprehensive understanding of Java/.Net based web development
- Hands on working experience in any of the data technology platforms – Oracle, Mongo DB or SQL Server
