Role summary

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and own our data platform and infrastructure, focusing on high-integrity financial data systems for a global financial product. You will design and implement systems for transaction processing, analytics, reporting, and real-time insights. The role involves working with Python (FastAPI), AWS services (Lambda, Kinesis), Postgres, and Redis, ensuring data correctness, auditability, and consistency. This position offers opportunities to define architecture, data models, and pipeline design from scratch, particularly in greenfield areas. Experience in financial technology startups and backend systems is essential.

Scope of Role

We're seeking a
Senior Data Engineer
to build and own our data platform and infrastructure. You will design systems that power transaction processing, analytics, reporting, and real-time insights across our global financial product.

You will work on high-integrity financial data systems, where correctness, auditability, and consistency are critical.

Our backend is a Python (FastAPI) monolith supported by Lambda, Kinesis, Postgres, Redis on AWS. You will work closely with backend systems to ensure data is correctly captured, transformed, and exposed. You will design and build the systems that capture, process, and serve data across the platform, working closely with backend services and event streams.

Parts of this are greenfield, where you will define architecture, data models, and pipeline design from first principles.

MUST HAVE SKILLS

Requirements

- 5+ years
building and shipping data pipelines and platforms
- Experience at banking/credit card/crypto/remittances/lending startups
- Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT, or event-driven systems
- Experience generally across the backend: working with Postgres, Redis, AWS, etc.
