Role summary

Westman Communications Group is seeking a Business AI & Data Analyst to join their team in Brandon, MB. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining enterprise dashboards and reporting systems using data visualization software like Tableau or Power BI. The analyst will also develop a centralized analytical data layer to support AI initiatives, automate reporting, establish data pipelines, and leverage GIS data for competitive analysis. Responsibilities include identifying and remediating data quality issues and ensuring data security best practices. A Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field and experience with BI platforms are required.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the design, build, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise dashboards and reporting systems using data visualization software to communicate complex datasets to various audiences.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a centralized analytical data layer to support reporting and AI initiatives.
  • Automate recurring reporting across various departments and functions.
  • Work with internal contacts to establish data pipelines that ingest data from various platforms.
  • Leverage GIS-based data to support competitive analysis and growth targeting.
  • Support the execution of WCG’s AI strategy and collaborate on AI initiatives.
  • Identify data quality issues and collaborate to remediate inconsistencies.
  • Ensure best practices related to data security are followed.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • Certificate or experience with Business Intelligence platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI) for building dashboards and data models is required.
  • Certificate or training in data warehousing, data engineering, cloud data platforms, or AI/automation tools are considered an asset.
  • Experience designing or contributing to a centralized data warehouse or data lake environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related analytic role is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in telecommunications or subscription-based service businesses is considered an asset.
  • Experience with GIS mapping and cloud-based data platforms is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with SQL, relational database structures, and data transformation processes is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of data visualization best practices and dashboard design principles.
  • Knowledge of data modelling, transformation logic, and validation controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Power BI).
  • Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information with complete confidentiality.
