Role summary

Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay is seeking a Jr. Data Engineer to join their Information Technology Team. This role focuses on developing and optimizing data pipelines and reporting solutions to drive business insights. Responsibilities include extracting, transforming, and validating data from various sources, ensuring data accuracy, and building automated workflows using SQL. The Jr. Data Engineer will also map metrics, perform data cleaning, write SQL queries, and build dashboards/reports using tools like Domo, Power BI, or Tableau. Collaboration with stakeholders and business teams is key to identifying requirements and solving business problems. This is an onsite, full-time position.

The Jr. Data Engineer supports the development and optimization of data pipelines and reporting solutions to drive business insights. This role is responsible for extracting, transforming, and validating data from multiple sources, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and building automated workflows using SQL.

What You’ll Do In This Role

  • ETL Pipeline Management: Extracting data from disparate sources (databases, APIs, CSVs), transforming it to fit business needs, and loading it into a data warehouse.
  • Data/Metrics Mapping: Map metrics in existing reporting to raw data values.
  • Data Cleaning & Quality Assurance: Pre-processing data to remove inaccuracies and performing validation checks to ensure data integrity.
  • SQL Development: Writing SQL queries and scripts to automate data workflows and create staging tables.
  • Data Reporting & Visualization: Building dashboards and reports using tools like Domo, Power BI, or Tableau to provide actionable insights.
  • Collaboration: Working with stakeholders to identify requirements and improve data processes.
  • Collaboration: Working with diverse business teams to solve business problems.
  • All other duties as assigned.

The Experience You’ll Bring

*Required*

  • 0-2 years of experience (internships included)
  • Strong SQL proficiency, ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, or scripting), data manipulation and scripting languages (Python/Javascript), and Excel.
  • Ability to interpret complex data sets, identify trends, troubleshoot data anomalies, and perform data validation.
  • Ability to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
  • Flu-Vaccinated

*Preferred*

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with other BI/ETL tools, data warehousing, or API integrations.
  • COVID-19 Vaccinated. As of now, the 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccine formulation is being distributed to providers and pharmacies; however, it has not yet received official approval from the CDC. In Virginia, pharmacists may administer COVID-19 vaccines under the Virginia Board of Pharmacy’s statewide protocols or with a direct order from a licensed medical provider. We encourage all new hires to consult with their healthcare provider regarding the most current vaccination recommendations. Please be aware that, depending on future CDC guidance or regulatory updates, we may require proof of the most recent COVID-19 vaccination as part of our ongoing commitment to health and safety.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Range: $min- $mid (based on relevant experience)
