About the Role

The Data & Systems Specialist position at Aecon offers an exciting opportunity to support large-scale nuclear projects, including the Darlington New Nuclear Project. This role is pivotal in consolidating and analyzing workforce training, operational, and project data to generate meaningful insights that inform decision-making and enhance project performance. Working closely with cross-functional teams such as Training, Construction Operations, and Project Leadership, the specialist will develop dashboards, automate workflows, and support digital transformation initiatives. The role emphasizes improving reporting accuracy, reducing manual processes, and strengthening data integrity to ensure seamless project execution. The Data & Systems Specialist will also coordinate with software vendors, support stakeholder training, and contribute to continuous process improvements. This position reports directly to the Manager, Data & Systems Analyst and plays a vital role in advancing Aecon’s commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence in the nuclear sector.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience with data analytics, reporting, and visualization tools such as Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate
  • Strong understanding of databases and data management principles
  • Experience in workflow automation and process improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of nuclear industry standards and safety protocols is an asset
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Experience supporting training and operational data systems is preferred
  • Ability to travel to remote project sites as required

Responsibilities

  • Collect, manage, analyze, and interpret training, workforce, and operational data to support project decision-making
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to improve visibility into workforce training status, safety, quality, production, and cost metrics
  • Support leadership reporting requirements, including Layered Leadership Model (LLM) reporting
  • Design and implement automated workflows to streamline data collection, reporting, and compliance tracking
  • Maintain data quality, integrity, and reporting standards across multiple platforms
  • Support and coordinate with software vendors for system development, troubleshooting, and upgrades
  • Consolidate training and compliance data from various systems into unified reporting tools
  • Provide ongoing analytical and systems support to project teams and internal clients
  • Develop procedures, documentation, and deliver training on new software tools and systems
  • Apply statistical and process analysis techniques to support planning, training, and project execution phases
  • Independently manage workload and align tasks with project timelines and stakeholder needs
  • Identify opportunities for digital transformation and process enhancements
  • Travel to remote and alternate project sites as necessary to support project activities
