Role summary

3D Infotech is seeking an Automation Engineer to design and deploy automated inspection solutions at the intersection of metrology, robotics, and software for manufacturing clients. The role involves developing inspection workflows using metrology software, programming data capture systems, creating automation scripts, and supporting customer implementations. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience, proficiency with CAD tools, a strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T, and hands-on experience with automation, metrology, or manufacturing systems. The position requires problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and with customers, and willingness to travel.

What You’ll Do
Design and deploy automated inspection solutions using 3D scanning and robotics
Develop and optimize inspection workflows using metrology software (e.g., PolyWorks)
Program and configure systems for data capture, analysis, and reporting
Create scripts/macros to automate repetitive processes and improve efficiency
Support customer implementations, demos, and training
Collaborate with internal engineering and product teams to enhance our solutions
Troubleshoot and continuously improve deployed systems

What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience with CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
Hands-on experience with automation, metrology, or manufacturing systems
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and with customers
Willingness to travel (~30–50%)
Nice to Have
Experience with 3D scanning technologies (FARO, Leica, Creaform, etc.)
Familiarity with metrology software (PolyWorks, Geomagic, etc.)
Exposure to robotics integration
Basic scripting or programming experience
