Role summary

Aerosonic is seeking a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer to translate design requirements into analog and digital board designs for avionics products. This role involves component selection, simulation, schematic capture, layout, documentation, and developing test procedures. Responsibilities include system integration, reviewing PCB layouts (Altium, PADS, Allegro preferred), interfacing with manufacturing for test support and troubleshooting, and adhering to DO-178C/DO-254 guidelines. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, a minimum of seven years of board design experience (preferably in aerospace), and familiarity with aerospace and FAA requirements.

Job Summary

Responsible for translation of design requirements into analog and digital board designs - complete with component selection, simulation, schematic capture, layout, documentation and development of test procedures for avionics products.

  • System integration to ensure proper function of integrated boards in the intended platform
  • Review of PCB layouts with Altium, PADS or Allegro - PCB layout experience is a plus
  • Ability to interface with in-house manufacturing for production test support and troubleshooting
  • Emphasis will be on a structured development process to meet DO-178C / DO-254 guidelines

Education/Previous Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, physics or related engineering fields
  • Experience in design and implementation for aerospace applications. Familiarity with various data and power bus architectures and implementation of micro-processors
  • A minimum of seven years in board design, preferably from aerospace organization
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of aerospace and FAA requirements
  • Strong analytical and communication skills for evaluating information and providing to the customer
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
