Staff Electrical Design Engineer
Role summary
Lightmatter is seeking a Staff Electrical Design Engineer to develop next-generation silicon photonics-based AI accelerators and interconnect products. This role involves leading board and system solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, mechanical, packaging, IC), and owning HW systems efforts from concept to production. Responsibilities include defining hardware requirements, designing electrical circuits (power, memory, interconnects) in analog and digital domains, component selection, developing conceptual designs, simulations, overseeing PCB layout, ensuring manufacturability, and performing lab validation. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 8+ years of system-level electrical design experience, proficiency in schematic design tools (Cadence, Mentor, Altium), in-depth knowledge of high-speed interfaces and power delivery, and 5+ years of lab experimentation and debugging experience.

Staff Electrical Design Engineer
About this Role
We are looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to the development of the next generation of silicon photonics based artificial intelligence accelerators and interconnect products.
In this role, you will lead board and system solutions that leverage Lightmatter’s technology to enable advanced machine learning, artificial intelligence, and large-scale interconnect platforms.
You will lead and own HW systems efforts, collaborate closely with teams across hardware and software, including mechanical, packaging, and IC engineering, to design, integrate, troubleshoot and release system-level products at the leading edge of innovation.

This role is open to two levels Staff and Sr Staff. Leveling placement and salary range is dependent on education, years of experience, and interview performance.
We offer competitive compensation. The base salary range for this role determined based on location, experience, educational background, and market data.
