Test Engineering Intern
Role summary
Aircapture is seeking a Test Engineering Intern for a full-time, project-based summer opportunity at their R&D facility in Berkeley, California. The intern will play a key role in advancing test engineering by operating and troubleshooting test equipment, writing and executing test plans, creating documentation, and conducting data analysis. This role requires a student who has completed their Junior year in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with experience in developing and executing test plans and data analysis/visualization. Basic understanding of engineering concepts like thermodynamics and chemistry is expected. Hands-on machine shop experience is a plus. The position offers $25/hour and up to $400 in travel reimbursement.

As a Test Engineering Intern you will play a key role in moving our test engineering forward at a groundbreaking climate technology startup, working closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and Test engineers. If you are looking for a project-based summer internship in which you'll get hands on experience, this is the role for you!
This is a full time, Summer opportunity at our research and development facility in Berkeley, California.
Pay rate: $25 per hour, plus up to $400 in travel reimbursement for those relocating from outside of the Bay Area.
What You'll Do Here
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Aircapture test equipment and machines to evaluate design changes, validate hardware, and pursue continuous improvement through Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Write and execute test plans and test reports to support Aircapture's engineering efforts
- Create documentation packages for new and ongoing Aircapture projects
- Conduct exploratory data analysis and investigation to identify trends, optimize our DAC machines, and support test results
- Partner with the data analysis team to develop new data pathways for visualization and modeling
Your Skills and Abilities Include
- Completed Junior year or equivalent studying Mechanical Engineering or a related field by Summer 2025
- Experience with developing and carrying out test plans or procedures
- Experience with data analysis and visualization
- Basic understanding of engineering concepts such as thermodynamics, chemistry, and power systems
- Ability to work proactively, manage a diverse workload, and effectively present and communicate technical information
- Hands-on machine shop experience a plus
