Role summary

A fast-growing life insurance and annuities company is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join their hybrid team in Durham, NC. This full-time role focuses on backend system testing, emphasizing manual testing (70%) with 30% automation. The engineer will test policy administration systems (like FAST) and CCM tools (like SmartComm), reporting to the Head of Engineering. Key responsibilities include writing test cases, managing the defect lifecycle, and utilizing RTM. Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright is required. A Bachelor's in Computer Science and 5+ years of experience are mandatory. Insurance or banking background is preferred.

MUST HAVES:

5+ years minimum
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
Experience testing the backend and backend systems that have transactions and values, not UI testing (not doing web testing)
Need to be both automation and manual testing both (emphasis on manual) (Comfortable with 70% manual and 30% automation testing)
Exposure to some automation tools for example: like selenium, cypress, playwright
Value testing experience
RTM
Knows and can explain the Defect lifecycle
Experience writing test cases

PLUS:

Comes from insurance or banking
Understanding of annuity abbreviations like: RILA, FIA, MYGA
SQL understanding
Policy admin tools, CCM tools

DAY TO DAY:

Our fast growing life insurance and annuities client is seeking a QA Tester to join their team. This position works hybrid onsite in Durham, NC and is remote the other part of the week. This person will work on testing the company’s policy admin system called FAST. You will report to the head of engineering in this role, and the Tester will represent the testing group within the US for this international software team. This position is full time and include full salary + benefits + bonus + long term incentive plan. You will help test things like their CCM tool called SmartComm + their policy admin system called FAST + any other 3rd party applications this team supports.
