Role summary
Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS) is seeking an Automation Engineer for its Cable Backplane Systems team in Valley Green, PA. This role involves developing, designing, testing, and deploying automated systems for high-speed interconnect solutions. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers on prototype and high-volume production automation. Responsibilities include concept development, scope of work documentation, and system design. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation, PLCs, electrical controls, solid modeling (Pro/E Creo preferred), machining, and project management, with a Master's degree and 5+ years of experience or a Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in Mechanical or Robotic Engineering.

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We have design, sales, and manufacturing locations globally and are currently seeking a Automation Engineer to join our Cable Backplane Systems team located in Valley Green (Etters), PA.
High speed cable backplane systems enable most of the world's IT and datacom; including leading the way for the AI/ML revolution; and require some of the most advanced manufacturing technologies, and highest levels of precision, in the engineering world. These challenges require the most creative, technical minds, and ultimately provide the most rewarding experience for an employee.
This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented and innovative Automation Engineer to join a global technology company that is the leader in the high-speed interconnect industry. You will be an integral part of a cross-functional team responsible for new product development. Product development team engineering disciplines include Mechanical Design, Signal Integrity, Mechanical Integrity, Manufacturing, and Process Development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job functions include developing concepts, writing scope of work documents, and designing, testing, deploying tooling and validation of automated systems. Candidates will work closely with external suppliers and manufacturers, supporting the development, fabrication and build of prototypes, pilot production and deployment of high-volume factory automation. Candidates should also have experience with machining as well as design.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MS (with 5+ years' experience) or BS (with 10+ years) in Mechanical or Robotic Engineering
- Must have experience with automation, PLCs, and electrical controls
- Proficient with solid modeling tools, Pro/E Creo preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with technical & non-technical people
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
