Quality Assurance Test Engineer
Role summary
Blu Omega is seeking QA Test Engineers to join their team at the FDA. This role involves executing functional, integration, and data verification tests, and preparing test strategy, data, and scripts for various releases. The engineer will identify automation opportunities, utilize tools like Selenium, and perform diverse testing phases including functional, integration, data migration, system, regression, and UAT. Responsibilities include estimating testing efforts, documenting results, identifying defects, and designing/executing performance, load, stress, and scalability tests. Experience with web services testing, database querying (PostgreSQL), and performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner) is essential. The role requires strong debugging and root cause analysis skills, validating data integrity and user workflows within an Agile environment.
Blu Omega is seeking QA Test Engineers for our team at the FDA. These consultants will use appropriate test tools and methodologies to execute functional, integration, and data verification tests, and support the preparation of test strategy, test data, test scripts and other release-related artifacts in support of new development, enhancement, operations and maintenance (O&M) releases. They will Identify areas for test automation and use tools such as Selenium, and leverage expertise in various testing phases, including functional, integration, data migration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing. They will also provide input into estimates for testing efforts and prioritization of test activities, and execute and verify positive and negative test cases and document test results, including comparisons between source and target data and verification of backend services and frontend software. They should have experience with creating test reports after completion of tests and document defects found. They will design, develop, and execute performance, load, stress, and scalability tests.
Basic Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience as a tester and analyst in hands-on application testing and developing and executing test scripts
- 3+ years of experience in working with entity-relationship diagrams, database schemas, test data, and source to target data verification
- 3+ years of experience with using methods for the verification of Web services, such as Postman or SoapUI
- 3+ year(s) of experience with using database query languages and tools, such as PostgreSQL to cross-verify data in the application with the database
- 3+ years experience with automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium)
- 3+ years hands-on experience with tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar performance testing tools
- Experience with tools like DBeaver, SQL Developer
- Experience working in Agile teams
- Experience with debugging and root cause analysis skills
- Experience in validating data integrity and user workflows
- US citizenship or permanent resident with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
- Bachelor's degree
- Current FDA badge is preferred
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to translate functional and data requirements into SQL and write procedures and functions to test complicated data interfaces
- Ability to support automated testing using Selenium, 508 compliance using tools such as WAVE, AMP, and/or NVDA, and usability testing
- Ability to support quality assurance reviews, peer reviews, and reviews of SDLC artifacts
- Experience working with collaboration tools, including Jira and Confluence
- Experience using AI assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar) for generating test scripts.
- Knowledge of programming language like Python would be a plus
