Briggs & Stratton is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III with expertise in advanced noise, vibration, and fatigue testing to enhance product reliability and performance. This role involves utilizing state-of-the-art MTS hydraulic equipment and electro-dynamic shakers for structural validation, integrating field data with CAE simulations. Responsibilities include leading test projects, performing FDR analysis, executing NVH and sound quality analyses, correlating physical test data with simulations, and managing EU Noise Compliance. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in NVH, Fatigue, or Structural Dynamics, proficiency with DAQ systems like Siemens SimCenter Test Lab, and a strong understanding of fatigue damage and reliability analysis.

As the Mechanical Engineer III you will be responsible for advanced noise, vibration, and fatigue testing to support the development of smoother, quieter, and more reliable products. This role utilizes state-of-the-art
MTS hydraulic equipment
and
electro-dynamic shakers
to simulate full-life structural validation. The incumbent will lead the transition toward data-driven design by integrating field data acquisition with advanced CAE simulation.

You will do this by

- Advanced Data Acquisition:
Lead lab and field test projects using multi-channel instrumentation, including
strain gauging, accelerometers, microphones, load cells, and CAN-bus.
- Field-to-Lab Replication:
Perform
Field Data Replication (FDR) Analysis
to convert raw field data into accelerated laboratory test profiles (PSD/FDS).
- NVH & Sound Analysis:
Execute
Modal Analysis, Transfer Path Analysis (TPA), and Sound Quality Analysis
to optimize the acoustic signature of Engines and Outdoor Power Equipment.
- Simulation Integration:
Correlate physical test data with
FEA and 1-D system modeling
to predict fatigue life and resolve resonance issues.
- MTS Fatigue Testing:
Lead structural validation of components and assemblies using MTS hydraulic equipment and specialized software.
- Regulatory Compliance:
Manage
EU Noise Compliance
testing, ensuring all procedures meet the documentation standards required by our
Notified Body
.
- Warranty Reduction:
Proactively identify failure modes in new battery and engine designs prior to field release through rigorous Reliability and Fatigue Damage Analysis.
