
Junior Video Editor
Role summary
BW Productions is seeking a Junior / Assistant Video Editor to join their team in Salt Lake City. This role involves working with senior editors on client projects, focusing on media management, project preparation in DaVinci Resolve, and building narrative-driven edits from assembly to rough cut. The position also includes basic motion graphics tasks in After Effects and opportunities to develop design skills. The ideal candidate has a year of video editing experience, a grasp of storytelling, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to learn and take direction. This is an onsite, full-time position with competitive hourly pay and benefits.
Overview
We're looking for a Junior / Assistant Video Editor who's eager to learn, loves storytelling, and sweats the details. You'll work alongside our senior editors on real client projects from day one — ingesting and organizing media, prepping DaVinci Resolve projects, syncing multicam interviews, and building narrative-driven edits from assembly through rough cut. You'll also get reps in basic motion graphics and grow your design instincts as you go.
This is a great fit if you're early in your editing career and want to level up fast inside a busy, collaborative production team.

Our team of 16 creatives produces hundreds of projects a year — branded content, corporate video, event coverage, documentaries, and photography — for clients ranging from nonprofits and universities to major agencies and corporations across the Mountain West.
What you'll be doing:
Media & project management
- Assist with ingesting media and keeping it organized (YoYotta, server)
- Maintain organized project files and server environments
- Prep DaVinci Resolve projects and folder structures
- Gather assets from producers for projects
- Manage your assigned tasks in Asana and follow team workflows (Asana, Project Binder, Slack, Google Calendar)
Editing
- Sync multicam interviews
- Cut interviews into assembly sequences organized by theme and narrative flow
- Take edits from assembly to early rough cut
- Add appropriate b-roll and retime b-roll frame rates
- Add subtitles to videos
- Create recap videos and scripted videos
- Search for music and sound effects
- Review cuts with senior editors and incorporate feedback from the team and clients
Motion graphics
- Keyframe images and graphics in After Effects
- Create simple lower-third animations and transitions
- Keep motion graphics assets and files organized
- Grow in motion design principles like timing, easing, and composition
What we're looking for:
- Working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve basics
- Early/basic understanding of After Effects
- A solid grasp of storytelling and the key beats of a narrative
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Consistent follow-through on assigned tasks
- A collaborative team player who helps projects ship on time
- Someone willing and eager to learn, able to take direction, and open to feedback from senior editors and clients
- Consistent awareness of good design
Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
