Role summary

We are seeking a skilled QA Automation Engineer to design and implement robust automation frameworks and solutions. This role involves leveraging tools like Playwright, Robot Framework, and Great Expectations to automate UI, API, database, and data pipeline testing. You will be responsible for establishing automation standards, integrating solutions into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), and ensuring data quality and compliance. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively across engineering, data, security, and business teams, translating technical findings into actionable insights and providing evidence for regulatory requirements. This is a hybrid role based in Dallas, TX, or Cincinnati, OH.

Responsible for designing automation frameworks and implementing automated testing solutions using Playwright, Robot Framework, and Great Expectations (GX). Ideal candidate must be hands-on capable of defining standards, implementing automation at scale, and partnering across engineering, data, security, and business teams to ensure consistent quality, compliance, and release confidence.
*The selected candidate will be required to work a hybrid schedule (3 days in office/2 remote) out of our Dallas, TX, or Cincinnati, OH office. No relocation assistance is being offered with this role.*
Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
Automation Framework

  • Design, implement, and maintain a scalable QA automation framework supporting UI, API, database, and data pipeline testing.
  • ]Establish automation standards, best practices, naming conventions, tagging strategies, and execution patterns.
  • Enable keyword-driven and low-code approaches to support broader adoption by QA and business users.

Application Test Automation

  • Develop automated tests using Playwright for modern web applications and API validations.
  • Build end-to-end workflows using Robot Framework spanning UI, API, and database layers.
  • Implement automated regression, smoke, and end-to-end test suites.
  • Support cross-browser and cross-platform execution with parallel test runs.

Data Quality & Observability Automation

  • Implement Great Expectations (GX) as a data quality and observability framework within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop assertion-based data validations, including:
  • Schema and data contract enforcement
  • Duplicate, orphan, and stale data detection
  • Type-2 SCD validation
  • Business rule and aggregation checks
  • Cross-dataset and cross-system reconciliations
  • Validate data across SQL Server, Synapse, Cosmos DB, Delta Lake, Spark, and data pipelines.
  • Support DR/BCP and post-failover data validation

CI/CD Integration & Reporting

  • Integrate automation into GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps pipelines as quality gates.
  • Ensure pipeline success validates functional and data outcomes, not just job completion.
  • Produce audit-ready artifacts, reports, logs, and dashboards.
  • Integrate test results with Jira and test management tools (e.g., Zephyr, Xray).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, Data, Security, SOC, DR/BCP, and Business teams.
  • Provide clear automation evidence to support compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Translate technical results into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Discipline to understand change control, checklists, repeatable processes, etc.
  • Very service oriented and has a proven ability to multi-task simultaneous requests.
  • Follow, maintain and upgrade all relevant documentation and standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Other duties as assigned

Technical Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Hands-on experience with Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript and Python).
  • Strong experience with Robot Framework, including custom keyword development.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Great Expectations (GX) for data quality validation.
  • Experience automating UI, API, database, and data pipeline tests.
  • Proficiency with SQL and data validation logic.
  • Experience in integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven experience designing QA automation frameworks, not just writing test scripts.
  • Strong understanding of test strategy, automation architecture, and quality gates.
  • Experience with parallel execution and scalable test automation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automating application testing (UI, API, SaaS apps, batch processing).
  • Knowledge of data observability, data contracts, or analytics QA.
  • Experience in insurance or other highly regulated domains.
  • Familiarity with accessibility testing, security testing, and DR/BCP validation.
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to work in a team environment and be flexible to daily changing needs and job duties.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, working closely with others to coordinate and complete initiatives.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be dedicated to quality, highly organized and efficient.
  • Ability to utilize all technical resources to solve problems and escalate appropriately

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred; at least 5-7+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional certifications such as Test Automation Engineering (CTAL-TAE)
  • Robot Framework Certified Professional (RFCP®)
  • Playwright automation certification or equivalent hands-on credential
  • DevOps or CI/CD certification (Azure DevOps, AWS, or equivalent
