Test Engineer

Duties

• Develop detailed test cases, scripts, and plans based on business requirements and technical specifications for both manual and automated testing processes.
• Execute functional, system, regression, performance, load, and user acceptance testing across multiple platforms including Android, iOS, web applications, and APIs.
• Utilize testing tools such as TestNG, Selenium WebDriver, JUnit, Cucumber, HP ALM, Jenkins, GitHub/GitLab integrations for test automation and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Perform root cause analysis on defects by analyzing logs from tools like MySQL databases, SQL Server instances, and RESTful API responses; document issues clearly for developers.
• Conduct mobile testing on Android and iOS devices to validate app functionality across different devices and operating systems.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated tests into the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) using scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, or Bash.
• Participate in requirement gathering sessions and contribute to the creation of comprehensive test cases that align with business goals; support user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Monitor system performance using tools like LoadRunner or Performance Center; analyze data to identify bottlenecks or stability issues.
• Support release management activities by verifying bug fixes and validating new features before deployment in Agile or Waterfall environments.
• Maintain detailed documentation of test results and defect reports; ensure traceability from requirements through testing phases.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in software testing with a strong understanding of SDLC methodologies including Agile and Waterfall models.
• Hands-on expertise with test automation tools such as Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber (BDD), and scripting languages including Python or JavaScript.
• Solid knowledge of mobile testing frameworks for Android and iOS platforms; familiarity with emulators and real device testing is essential.
• Experience working with APIs using RESTful services; proficiency in API testing tools like Postman or SoapUI is preferred.
• Strong database skills including SQL querying with MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server or DB2; ability to perform data analysis for troubleshooting purposes.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket; experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or Azure DevOps (TFS).
• Knowledge of performance testing tools like LoadRunner or similar; understanding of system architecture including service-oriented architecture (SOA) and cloud environments such as AWS or Azure is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis; strong attention to detail in identifying issues across complex systems.
• Effective communication skills for documenting test procedures and collaborating within cross-functional teams.
• Technical background in programming languages such as C#, Java, or C++ is a plus; familiarity with UI technologies like HTML/CSS/JavaScript enhances testing capabilities.
