Role summary

Elaris Aion ME is seeking a Fractional CTO for a 4-day/week contract role to define and lead the company's technology vision and platform development. The CTO will be responsible for the overall technical architecture, including backend, database, APIs, and cloud infrastructure. This role involves managing a team of 4 senior engineers, ensuring enterprise-grade security and compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, LGPD), and integrating AI/ML tools into the annotation workflow. The ideal candidate will have 10-15+ years of software engineering and technical leadership experience, with deep expertise in AI/ML systems, data pipelines, and platform development for enterprise clients. Experience in the data annotation industry and managing remote teams is crucial. The position reports directly to the CEO and collaborates on product strategy.

About Elaris Aion ME

Elaris is a multinational AI data annotation company with a multi-million dollar enterprise contract pipeline. We built our own annotation platform from scratch with multi-role workflows, real-time QA, and 7+ project types. We are preparing to serve Fortune 500 and government clients. We believe AI empowers professionals, not replaces them.

The Role

We are hiring a Fractional CTO to lead the technology vision and platform development. You will be the technical backbone of the company, connecting our existing front-end platform with a scalable backend, managing a team of 4 senior engineers, and ensuring our infrastructure meets enterprise security and compliance standards.

This is a 4-day/week fractional role. Initial 4-month contract with renewal and salary review, followed by 12-month extension. Hiring between April 30 and May 9, 2026.

What You Will Do

Define and own the full technical architecture (backend, database, APIs, cloud infrastructure). Lead and manage a team of 4 senior engineers (Full-Stack and AI/ML). Connect the existing front-end platform with backend systems and databases. Implement enterprise-grade security (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, LGPD compliance). Evaluate and integrate AI/ML tools into the annotation workflow. Make build-vs-buy decisions for platform features. Serve as the technical face of Elaris when speaking with enterprise clients. Report directly to the CEO and collaborate on product strategy.

What You Bring

10-15+ years in software engineering and technical leadership. Deep expertise in AI/ML systems, NLP, computer vision, and data pipelines. Proven experience in the data annotation industry or closely related field. Experience building platforms for enterprise clients (FAANG, Fortune 500, government). Strong understanding of multi-domain annotation: voice, image, text, geospatial, cybersecurity. Cloud infrastructure at scale (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Track record hiring and managing remote engineering teams. Comfortable using AI tools in development. Fluent in English.

Nice to Have

Experience with clients like Google, Amazon, Meta, NASA, or Apple. Portuguese, Spanish, or French language skills. Previous startup CTO or co-founder experience.

Compensation

£13,000/month, 4 days/week + equity option. All compensation paid in GBP.
