About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist in Software Engineering to join our team in Palm Bay, FL. This role involves supporting the design, development, integration, and testing of embedded computing systems for critical defense programs, including the F-15 Aviate Navigate Communicate (ANC) and Mission Processor (MP). The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, ensuring operational performance requirements are met and the overall system design is optimized. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of advanced, secure mission architectures that are vital to national security. The role operates on a 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off, with minimal travel requirements, primarily to customer sites in St. Louis, MO, for software leadership activities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, coupled with a minimum of six years of relevant experience. Candidates with a graduate degree require at least four years of related experience. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of ten years of extensive experience in embedded software development is required. Preferred qualifications include experience in software leadership roles such as CSWE, IPTL, or CAM, along with expertise in embedded security, encryption, and safety-critical software development standards like DO-178 B or above. Candidates should have a strong background in complex systems, mission computing, memory systems, and displays, as well as excellent communication skills. Technical proficiency in Bash/Python, Intel x86/ARM/FPGA/SoC platforms, GPP, GPU, real-time operating systems such as VxWorks, LynxOS, or Integrity, and knowledge of network storage and authentication schemes like Radius and LDAP are highly desirable. U.S. Security Clearance is required for this position.
Responsibilities
The Senior Specialist will be responsible for developing software primarily in C/C++, utilizing existing tools and frameworks. Key duties include defining and implementing requirements, designing system and software architecture, conducting thorough testing, and supporting integration efforts. The role involves developing test frameworks in Python, supporting mission systems integration architecture, and assisting with customer deployments. The candidate will collaborate across disciplines to ensure seamless hardware and software integration, participate in design reviews, and support the entire software development lifecycle. Additional responsibilities include supporting DevSecOps practices, test automation, and maintaining configuration management standards. The role may also involve providing technical leadership in software development projects, troubleshooting complex system issues, and ensuring compliance with industry safety and security standards.
