Role summary

FTAI Aviation Ltd. is seeking a Development Test Engineer to support the development and validation of hardware systems. This hands-on role involves planning and executing tests, designing and building test setups, analyzing data, and collaborating with design teams to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance. Key responsibilities include developing test plans, executing various test types, analyzing results, and maintaining test equipment. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, 5+ years of hardware testing experience, and proficiency with data acquisition and analysis tools.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Test Engineer will support the development and validation of hardware systems by planning and executing tests, building test setups, analyzing data, and collaborating closely with design teams. This role is hands‑on and focused on ensuring product performance, reliability, and compliance through rigorous testing and clear documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria for component and system-level testing
  • Design and build test fixtures, rigs, and instrumentation setups
  • Execute functional, structural, environmental, and performance tests
  • Acquire, process, and analyze test data; produce clear engineering reports
  • Identify and troubleshoot anomalies; correlate results with analytical predictions
  • Work closely with design engineers to close the loop between test results and design updates
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory test requirements
  • Maintain test equipment, calibration records, and laboratory documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in hardware testing or experimental engineering
  • Hands-on experience with data acquisition systems (LabVIEW, NI DAQ, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, or Excel)
  • Strong understanding of sensors, instrumentation, and signal conditioning
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand tolerance/specification requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-pressure, high-temperature, or high-speed test environments
  • Familiarity with DOE (Design of Experiments) methodologies
  • Knowledge of applicable standards (MIL-STD, DO-160, SAE)
  • Experience with gas turbine engine or gas turbine rig testing
