Role summary

This contract role involves managing enterprise-wide safety projects and initiatives for a major California electric utility. The Project/Product Manager will develop strategies, perform senior project management functions (including analysis, planning, risk assessment, and metrics development), and lead cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives. Key responsibilities include maintaining a master enterprise project plan for complex safety culture projects and executing the Safety Culture Transformation Roadmap. The role requires 7 years of project/program management experience, strong analytical and leadership skills, and the ability to manage budgets, scope, and schedules. A Bachelor's degree and Project Management Certification are required.

Job Summary

Manage projects and initiatives having a major enterprise-wide safety impact on the client in support of the client's safety priorities and goals. Develop objectives and short to long-range strategies. Perform senior project management functions, including analyses, project proposals, project plans, business cases, schedule, project scope definition, risk analysis/mitigation plans, resource requirement identification, developing and implementing metrics to measure and adjust. Lead company-wide cross-functional teams to drive project objectives from inception to completion; facilitate meetings, presentations, and discussions to identify strategies for continuous improvement, communicate status updates, and drive for project results. Develop and maintain a master enterprise project plan for complex safety culture projects with high visibility and aggressive timelines (including integrating individual project plans, timelines, interdependencies, alignment, and communication needs). Responsible for executing the overarching Safety Culture Transformation Roadmap and other related safety strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate meetings, presentations, and discussions to identify strategies for continuous improvement, communicate status updates, and drive for project results
  • Develop and maintain a master enterprise project plan for complex safety culture projects with high visibility and aggressive timelines (including integrating individual project plans, timelines, interdependencies, alignment, and communication needs)
  • Execute the overarching Safety Culture Transformation Roadmap and other related safety strategies

Required Experience

  • 7 years' experience managing projects, programs, or contracts
  • Experience implementing large-scale programs/projects with major impacts
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience managing and/or supporting project budget, scope, schedule, and resources, and overseeing the formal planning, tracking, and reporting of project performance
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing and collaborating with team members, all levels of management, different departments, and vendors to develop solutions, facilitate cooperation between different parties, and obtain stakeholder buy-in
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating or implementing business readiness activities, including stakeholder analysis, change interventions, training, and communications to ensure business and operational readiness for change
  • Demonstrated experience in achieving desired outcomes and actions through negotiation and influence
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience prioritizing activities, monitoring assignments, and holding team members accountable for results
  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers
  • Must demonstrate effective decision-making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation
  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Certifications and/or Licenses

  • Project Management Certification

Preferred Skills

  • Master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology
