Role summary
HappyRobot is seeking a motivated People Partner to build its People function from the ground up. This high-ownership, hands-on role involves managing core People Operations (payroll, HRIS) and executing people projects across the employee lifecycle. The ideal candidate thrives on operational excellence and building new systems. Responsibilities include serving as an employee point of contact, improving People processes for scalability and compliance, partnering with leadership on programs like performance management and employee experience, and ensuring legal compliance. Requires strong attention to detail, initiative, excellent communication, discretion, and at least 3-5 years of HR/People Ops experience, with a preference for HRIS management and comfort with AI tools.

**About the Role**
We are looking for a highly motivated **People Partner** to join our growing team and help build our People function from the ground up. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role for someone who will own core People Operations while also owning and executing people projects across the full employee lifecycle. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both operational excellence and building new systems, programs, and practices.
**What You’ll Do**
* Own and run core People Operations activities, including payroll processing, HRIS management, etc.
* Serve as a point of contact for employees, handling complex employee situations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
* Build, document, and continuously improve People processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and a great employee experience as the company scales.
* Partner closely with team leadership to design and execute people programs, including performance processes, manager enablement, and employee experience initiatives.
* Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies, partnering with leadership as needed.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and leaders across the company on people-related initiatives.
**Must have**
* Extremely detail-oriented and meticulous, with a strong focus on accuracy and follow-through.
* High degree of ownership and initiative; able to operate independently and proactively identify improvements.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
* 3-5 years of experience in an HR, People Ops, or talent-related role, ideally within a fast-paced company or high-volume environment.
* Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive and confidential employee information.
* At least 2 core HR strengths: HRIS management (highly preferred), People Experience / Employee Relations, Learning & Development, People Analytics
* Comfort using AI-powered tools and modern HR technology to improve efficiency and workflows.
