About The Role
The Electronic Security Systems Engineer at University Health plays a vital role in supporting and maintaining the enterprise-level physical and electronic security technologies across all healthcare facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and operational efficiency of critical security infrastructure, including access control, CCTV surveillance, RFID infant/pediatric protection systems, emergency communication systems, and visitor management platforms. The role involves close collaboration with Information Systems, Protective Services, and external vendors to implement, troubleshoot, and upgrade security systems, ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. This position is essential in maintaining a secure environment that complies with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Healthcare Technology, or a related field. Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education requirements. Prior experience supporting enterprise physical security systems, healthcare environments, or complex IT infrastructures is highly preferred. Candidates must be capable of obtaining vendor certifications such as CCure 9000, Zenitel Stentofon, CenTrak, DSC, and HID SAFE. Strong technical knowledge of security hardware and software, networking fundamentals, and system integration is essential. Excellent troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain enterprise electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV, RFID safety systems, and intrusion alarm systems to ensure continuous operation and security compliance.
  • Configure system settings, user permissions, and device integrations within security platforms to optimize performance and security protocols.
  • Monitor automated data exchanges related to badging, access provisioning, and system interfaces to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Perform routine system testing, upgrades, patches, and preventive maintenance to keep security infrastructure up to date and secure.
  • Generate detailed system reports, audits, and operational metrics to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot system issues efficiently and coordinate with IT teams and external vendors to restore services and resolve technical problems.
  • Assist in the installation, expansion, and upgrade of security systems across multiple University Health facilities, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes to support organizational security policies and procedures.
  • Provide after-hours and on-call support for critical security systems, ensuring rapid response to emergencies and system failures.
